Suga received backlash from his family & other people close to him for choosing his career as an entertainer at that time. It’s been said that Suga was very poor. He would have to deicide whether he would want Food or a bus ticket to a alley where he would want to make music.
He was very poor and got scammed when selling his music. He tried to make money by selling his music but often people wouldn’t buy it.
While as a trainee, Suga began working as a newspaper delivery boy. When delivering papers, however, he was struck by a car in a hit-and-run accident which completely damaged his shoulder. Rather than telling anyone, he kept the secret to himself and fought through the pain as he practiced as a trainee under BigHit, afraid that if he told them that he would lose his career with them. One day he was taking a bus ride home when he saw a BigHit audition paper and he thought he had talent so he went and made It. While those poor times it’s been said by him that he has struggled through depression and anxiety all the time.
IU
Before she made her debut, her parents were in debt so she had to live with her grandma in a tiny bedroom with lots of cockroaches creeping at night. In winter, they could not turn on the heater and often ate potatoes that her grandmother received from the market. She was rejected at several auditions before she debuted. She was offered a television appareance but she had to pay for it, so her grandmother sold her jewelries, but it turned out to be a fraud.
RAIN
He settled in a shabby little house with cold floors and no heating. His mother passed away from illness because they did not have money to seek proper treatment. Rain said that the last meal he bought for her before she died was a packet of seaweed soup. When Rain was in middle school, he worked at a construction site in the morning to help pay for medicine for his ailing mother. However, he could not buy medicine on time and his mother died.
Tiffany SNSD
When she was 12 years old, her mother killed herself and Tiffany said she has no good relationship with her father, she cut off communication with him for 7 years. She received threats from people related to her father due to his financial problems without her knowledge ( in 2007, her father had more than $ 31.400 in debt, and tiffany didn’t know what else did he do). She went to Korea alone to pursue her dreams.
Sandara Park
Started her career in Philippines and worked hard to provide for her and her family, but her father used her money (earnings) to gamble and to deceive people. Because of that, her father was imprisoned. She had to work as a model with some sexy pose for more earnings. She became a trainee in YG and debuted with 2NE1 and redeemed her father in jail with her early earnings as an idol.
Leeteuk Super Junior
Leeteuk’s story always hit me in the chest. He was victim of his father’s violence. I will never forget this shocking news in 2014, his father killed himself after killing Leeteuk’s grandmother and grandfather. His father left a note for Leeteuk that said “‘Do you think you can succeed alone?”. He hated Leeteuk’s idol career. Can you imagine his pain after reading something like that? Not only that, but he left 5 million won debt ($4.304,58) behind. To pay off the debt of his late father, Leeteuk had to sell his car and increase his workload. He could only sleep for about four hours every three days. I always feel sorry for him.
All kpop idols have hard lives. It’s really simple, in a way. Let me explain.
First, they have trained at brutal companies. I don’t mean the companies are Bad, but you’ll never find a perfect company. The trainee life is long and difficult, no explanation needed.
They must satisfy both fans and their management. If the fans aren’t happy, they can’t be happy either. If the management isn’t happy, well, it’s kinda obvious what could happen to our beloved idols.
Stress. All the performances, fan signs, training, touring, all that takes time. They need to relax sometimes, and some people don’t get that.
Family. Most idols don’t get to see their families often, which is not a good thing.
Health. I think everyone knows that the life of a kpop idol is packed with events, from working out in the gym to dance practice to stage rehearsals. All this can have an effect on the overall health of our idols. In addition, some idols were born with or developed illnesses that hold them back.
