Twice was formed by JYP Entertainment through the competition show Sixteen, which first aired on May 5, 2015. The show featured 16 promising trainees all competing against each other to win a place in a new K-pop girl group. By the time the show ended on July 7, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun , Chaeyoung and Tzuyu were chosen to be in the band. The members were already quite popular by the time TWICE debuted with the single “Like Ooh-Aah” on October 20, 2015, thanks to their time on Sixteen.
