Boy bands, Love them or hate them, they’ve been around for quite a while now.
Since getting their start with The Beatles in the 60s, the image of boy bands steadily evolved. The 70s brought the Jackson 5, The New Kids came to the Block in the 80s, the 90s golden age shone with the BackStreet Boys and N’Sync. In the 2010s we saw a revival of boy bands starring One Direction.

Now in modern days Asia, and more specifically Korea has given us a new wave a better, faster, stronger boy bands with BTS paving the way. How did BTS and Korean boy bands succeed where western artists have fallen by the wayside?
