Blackpink was formed by YG Entertainment in 2016. The four members of the band, 김지수 Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, had big shoes to fill the moment they joined the band because they were the first girl group to debut in their agency since 2009. On top of this, the girl band before them, 2NE1, was one of the greatest K-pop girl groups in Korea during their prime.
Nonetheless, Blackpink rose to the challenge, and are now one of the most popular girl groups in K-pop. The band has even beaten the popularity of its predecessors. But what’s so appealing about this group?
