BTS / 방탄소년단 – MIC Drop (Drum Cover)

Here’s another BTS cover I promised to make, hope you guys like it. I chose the original album version over the remix because I like it a bit more and the beats felt much more potential/suitable for a drum cover. This was a tricky one to learn with all the little breaks and accents. The 16th note triplet snare fills also felt a bit primitive at first but they are so strong in the original track that I just ended up replicating them and they actually sound quite neat to me now.

Still working on the sound of my new kit. Getting closer to where I wanna be but the rack tom is still tuned a bit too high because I seem to get a fair bit of the kind of resonance that doesn’t blend in with the rest of the kit. I’ll have this figured out soon! The 12″ toms have always been really difficult in the room where I’m currently recording.

Here’s the gear list:

Pearl DX Drums (1980s) 12″, 16″ & 22″
Ludwig Supralite 14″x5.5″ Steel Snare
Clear Remo Emperors on Toms, Evans Genera on the Snare, and Clear Remo PS3 on the Kick

18″ Yin Crash
