First of all, I’ll say that, I don’t belong to any religion, but I do believe 101 percent that there’s God. Usually, BTS has been known to stay quiet about religion, but hereโs what I know from my hours spent on the boys.
So let’s start with Namjoon.
Namjoon is confirmed to be an athiest. He has said it years ago that though he grew up in a Christian family, he has grown not believe in a God. He has been seen wearing a necklace with a cross on it, and many have been confused by this. Well who knows, maybe he just liked a cross design. Crosses are just an accessory to some people and Namjoon who openly said on national TV โIโm an atheistโ wore it too as an accessory.
Seokjin has not confirmed his religion to the public and is known to have no religion like the other members. Some Army claims that Jin is a Christian because he closed off his birthday vlive with [English subtitles]: โGod bless you. May the grace of God be with you.โ (at 48:20).
Suga once said โThough I don’t have a religion, I prayed last night since I was emotional.โ Other than that, there isn’t much information that I’ve found about his religion. Yoongi went to a christian school growing up. Yoongi mentioned in a fancafe post that he was never religious but that he did pray, which leads me to believe he is agnostic, believing in a higher power without identifying with any particular religion.
Jhope’s religion is unknown, many believe he’s not religious. like Seokjin, not much is known about Hobi’s religion. He hasn’t spoken about it or given any subtle clues like Suga and V.
Just like Jhope, Jimin’s religion is also unknown. He has worn cross earrings a few times, but people still think he’s not religious. And the earrings don’t really mean anything. He could just be wearing them because of fashion, as many other idols have done in the past. I personally think he’s not religious; however, some people have said that he came from a Buddhist home, and might be a Buddhist himself since he knows quite a lot about Buddhism. But I doubt it since the only family member of his known to actually be a Buddhist is his grandmother, and if you think about it its kind of a stretch.
Tae’s religion is unknown. In recent 2019BTSFESTA when they just sat and talk, J-hope said to V that, โbut you have no God,” when they talk about fate. So from there I assumed taehyung is non-religious . V even said โeven if I don’t have God, I still believe and recite โoh Godโ everytime I want to do something. It’s a natural react for human ” Also the Christian song on his Playlist doesn’t necessarily mean he’s Christian, he could have not know it was a Christian song since he doesn’t speak English, or he could just have liked it. Many Muslim friends of mine and people I’ve seen online listen to Christian songs because they’re good. I think his members saying to him, โYou don’t believe in god.โ is more evidence than a song on his Playlist from a language he doesn’t speak. But remember when his grandma died? He said she was in heaven. If he was an athiest, he wouldnโt believe in heaven. So maybe he believe in God but I’m not sure if he belongs to any religion. He may not be an athiest but he might be a deist.
Jungkook’s religion is unknown. He covered โOh Holy Nightโ a few years ago on his own. There are 2 versions to this song. One where the singer talks about Jesus and one where he doesn’t. Jungkook choose the one about Jesus which led a lot of people to believe he’s a Christian. But the majority believe he’s not religious as well. There’s also rumors that his school used to give Bible classes, however there has to be an option to opt out if you’re not Christian. And there is no evidence whatsoever that jungkook attended any of these Christian classes in his high school.
They donโt speak about their religious beliefs publicly.
I donโt think any of them have explicitly stated their religions, except of course for RMโs atheism. Christian, atheist, agnostic, Buddhist, whateverโฆARMY should still love all of them no matter what. Respect each and everyone’s belief.
